Deloraine Junior Basketball Club
A community sporting club focused on providing excellence in Basketball.
Respect
Respect yourself, your team mates, your coach and team officials. Your spectators, family & friends. Respect the opposition and game day referrees. You may not always agree but always respect other’s rights.
Responsibility
You have a responsibility to your coach and team mates. Be on time for games and training. For yourself, bring your drink bottle, have your uniform and don’t rely on others.
Resilience
Being resilient is a character strength. Winning isn’t important, it is fun, but it is important to know how to lose. Take defeat and build on it, grow as a person, a player, a teammate. Always congratulate or thank the opposition. It isn’t the referee’s fault when things don’t go your way!
There’s a reason basketball is one of the most popular sports on the planet. It’s fast, great for your fitness and – most importantly – great fun!
At Deloraine Junior Basketball Club, we’re all about creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable getting involved. Whether you’re brand new to basketball or have been playing for years, there’s a place for you at DJBC.
Our junior competition runs each year from March through to August, with games played on Monday and Wednesday nights. We cater for players from Under 10s right through to Year 10.
New players are always welcome — it’s never too late to give it a go!
Once registrations are finalised, our committee puts a lot of care into creating teams that are balanced and fair. We usually have Under 10s, Primary Boys and Girls, and High School Boys and Girls, but this can change slightly depending on numbers each season.
We also offer opportunities for players to take things a step further, with representative teams competing in events like the Mid-Winter Classic, Tasmanian Junior JackJumpers League, and State Championships. Any registered player is welcome to put their hand up and get involved.
A quick note: Players will need to wear plain black basketball shorts (no pockets), and DJBC will provide the playing tops.
If your child is new to basketball, aged 6–7, and keen to learn in a fun and supportive environment, our Aussie Hoops program is the perfect place to start. It’s designed especially for beginners, helping kids build their skills, confidence, and love for the game before moving into our junior competition.
If your child is a little older or has missed Aussie Hoops, that’s absolutely okay — we still welcome them into our weekly competition. With the support of our coaches and training sessions, they’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn, improve, and enjoy being part of the club.
